I’m Guy-Xavier NSENGIYUMVA, a freelance location sound recordist born and raised in Burundi but based in Kigali, mainly operating around the Great Lakes region countries. I began sounds for motion pictures in 2015 as an unprofessional sound engineer on a feature film combining Burundian filmmakers and Rwandan filmmakers. Being a Sound engineer on that project I helped starting PA sound system practices and increased my interest in sound for motion pictures which led me to join one of best the filmmaking schools in Kigali and Nairobi At the same time combining it with entertainment industry-related jobs.

From that day, I participated in several trainings, workshops, and masterclasses, am growing up along with the local industry, my career has been amazing, adventurous and fruitful in taking part in different projects and adding value to shorts and features, documentaries and fictions also tv adds and corporate videos. Some of those projects were recognized on the world level and regional, such as the Toronto International film festival, International World Film Award, Mashariki Africa Film Festival, Urusaro International Women Film Festival, Fespaco, Zanzibar International Film Festival, and Africa in Motion Film Festival, etc…

I worked on various projects of NGOs international and local, Companies international and local, and freelancer filmmakers international and local such as (CBS News, 60Minutes, National Geographic, Fairtrade, Goss Grove Films, White Rhino Studio, Mashirika Performing Arts and Media Company, The Ellen Fund, BAL, Mass Studio, Rwandair, Airtel, Unicef, Uneca, End Fund, MRB Productions, America Humane, Zacu TV, etc…)
Now fully freelancing as a location sound recordist with industry-standard skills. I mentored the youths in a project called “TUMENYE SINEMA” organized by Mashariki Africa Film Festival and funded by the European Union in Huye district and Musanze district and I mentored in Location Sound recordist in the CPMAC project organized by Urusaro Women International Film Festival supported by AFRICALIA, I mentored in different trainings and workshops.
